I want to start my blog with movie recommendations and interesting facts.
I don’t know if you can call me a movie enthusiast, but I definitely love watching and discussing movies.
Usually, I watch a movie, and if I don’t like it, I might end up watching like five in the same week until I find one that affects me so badly that I have to rest for like five months.
The last time I had a movie session was in April. I watched three movies:
- Silent Hill — an absolute failure, speaking as a HUGE Silent Hill 2 fan.
- Parasite — I watched it forcefully and didn’t like it that much.
- Requiem for a Dream — one of the most painful movies I’ve ever watched after The Pianist.
Requiem for a Dream was about drug addiction and where it can drag you. I probably stared at the wall for an hour after watching it. Anyway, I didn’t watch a single movie after that one.
But I still have movies that I rewatch every time. They inspire me and make my mood better than anything.
1. Movies That Motivate Me
1.1 The Social Network
This movie was the main reason that pushed me into coding and engineering. It was the first push that made me want to create this website. If you are in the programming world, I recommend watching it. It follows the story of Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg.
1.2 Interstellar
I rewatched this movie three or four times, and it’s never enough. I even wanted to get into astronautics and work at NASA in the future. The story is about a man going to space to save Earth.
1.3 The Devil Wears Prada
I loved, loved, LOVED all the designer clothes and how women looked in them. It’s probably the main reason I’m not covering myself with hoodies anymore and am at least trying to dress moderately.
The ending of the movie was weird, but the reason to watch it is mostly the vibe during the movie.
2. Plot Twists That Were So Unexpected and Good, I Lost My Ability to Speak
2.1 Prisoners
One of the best movies I have ever watched. I got introduced to the wonderful acting of both Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.
The movie is about two families losing their two daughters, the investigation that follows, and the mental pressure that takes over the adults. Absolutely worth watching.
2.2 Se7en
Se7en is one of the masterpieces by David Fincher. The movie is about detectives uncovering murders inspired by the seven deadly sins.
Even though I got spoiled before watching it, it still felt beautiful to watch. The ending makes the viewer emotional, especially because of the choice made by the detectives at the end. One of the best movie plot twists in the world.
2.3 Fear
To be fair, I didn’t know what to add in the last place, so Fear comes here. Not gonna lie, it’s a 3/5 movie, but I actually didn’t expect the ending to be the way it was.
Overall, I watched it because of prime Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon. I would recommend this movie to girls, especially ages 14 to 25. It raises awareness about men who look appealing but are actually dangerous, because girls at those ages can sometimes romanticize abusive “hot” men.
3. The Kind of Sad Movies That Stay With You
3.1 Dead Poets Society
Dead Poets Society tells the crushing story of ambitious schoolboys fighting against their parents’ and school’s control while trying to express their creativity.
It’s not just “worth watching.” It is a necessity to watch. Carpe diem.
3.2 Donnie Darko
It’s beautiful. As a viewer, you can understand the movie however you want. You can see it as a sci-fi story, or as a story about a mentally unwell boy. It’s one of the best Jake Gyllenhaal performances I’ve watched.
3.3 The Green Mile
I’m not a huge Stephen King fan, but the story of those men in jail will forever haunt me. You will not be able to hold your tears. Be ready.
3.4 Good Will Hunting
This movie was beautiful, even though the ending was kind of meh. But sometimes, when the movie is that good, no bad ending can ruin it.
I definitely think this movie is worth watching. It’s about a young man who wants to be like everyone else, but he was born a bit more special.
